Restorations and Fillings

Restorations and fillings can range from fixing small gaps, to completely rebuilding teeth. We always use high grade materials and techniques to ensure that teeth match the appearance of the other teeth and blend in, to create the most natural looking result. Our aim is to restore teeth structure and appearance, which allows you to enjoy normal use of the tooth for eating and speaking. Restorations and fillings are usually relatively quick treatments, that can often be completed in one visit and can last a long time if good oral hygiene is practiced.

Crowns, sometimes known as ‘caps’ are placed over a badly damaged tooth to restore its structure. They are often used after root canal therapy, tooth trauma or on a tooth that has bad decay. A crown covers the tooth to protect any further damage and allows you to eat, speak and use the tooth like any other. We use porcelain or composite to ensure the crown looks natural and blends in with the other teeth. Crowns can last a very long time, provided you have good oral hygiene and regular checkups with DNA Dental.

Veneers can be used to hide gaps, spaces, discolouration, crowded, crooked, broken or chipped teeth. The dentist will place a thin layer of either porcelain or composite resin over the top of existing teeth. Veneers can be a quick way to achieve a beautiful smile. There are two veneer options; porcelain veneers or composite resin veneers.

Porcelain Veneers - Porcelain veneers are the more natural looking option. They also last longer, lasting 12 or more years if looked after correctly. They are highly stain resistant and made of a stronger material then the composite resin veneers. However, they take slightly longer to place on the teeth and are more expensive then composite resin veneers.

Composite Resin Veneers - Composite resin veneers are used in the same circumstances as porcelain veneers, they are just a cheaper option. They are made out of tooth coloured filling materials. While they aren’t as strong as porcelain veneers and don’t tend to last as long, they are quicker to place - usually being completed in one appointment. They still give a natural looking beautiful smile, on a cheaper budget.

It is important to come in for regular six month checkups after having veneers placed so they can be maintained.

Implants and Dentures

Losing a tooth or teeth can be a very daunting occurrence. Not only can it effect our physical appearence, it can also impact on eating and keeping remaining teeth in position. This is why it is important to replace missing teeth with implants or dentures. Here at DNA Dental Kellyville, we use high grade materials and techniques to create a false tooth or teeth, to fill the gaps. It is our aim to ensure that your implants and dentures not only resemble the other teeth in appearance, we also like to ensure that they are as comfortable as possible.

Implants are a good option, if you have enough space in the gap and good bone structure to support a tooth. Implants are often used when there is a small space to fill, such as one tooth missing. Dental implants can last longer than dentures and also prevent bone loss associated with missing teeth. They are the most natural looking restoration option. You brush dental implants just like you would your normal teeth and can eat all of the foods you would normally eat. You still need to have regular checkups with dental implants, as bad dental hygiene can impact on the implant and cause it to fail.

Dentures are a good solution if you are missing multiple teeth. Dentures can drastically improve your ability to speak, eat and function. Not to mention boost your self confidence. You can get partial or full dentures depending on your needs. Full dentures replace all the teeth in the mouth, while partial dentures will replace some, but not all teeth in the mouth. Come in and have a chat with us and we can determine what will be the correct treatment for you. Even if you have dentures, it is important that you still come to the dentist regularly for a check up to ensure that your mouth remains healthy. On top of monitoring teeth and ensuring that the dentures remain fitted correctly, we also check the tongue, gums, cheeks, palate and screen for oral cancer.

Any surgical or invasive procedure carries risks. Before proceeding, you should seek a second opinion from an appropriately qualified health practitioner.
