Emergency Dentistry

Here at DNA Dental we understand that dental emergencies can happen at any time of the day or night. If you have a tooth ache, cracked or chipped tooth, a tooth that has been knocked out, severe tooth trauma or any other issue that needs treating quickly we will always go above and beyond to try and get you an appointment as soon as possible. If you are calling with an after hours emergency, our number will automatically direct you to our after hours service. Dr Dave will often take after hours calls to ensure that your needs are met.

Unsure what is considered a dental emergency? If you knock a tooth out, it’s an emergency. If you crack or chip a tooth and you’re in pain, it’s an emergency. If you have a severe tooth ache that can’t be relieved with over-the-counter pain medications, it’s an emergency. Tooth pain is the body’s way of telling you that something is wrong.

What to do if your tooth is knocked out?

If the tooth is clean, place it straight back in the socket. Never touch the tooth by the root, always by the crown.

If the tooth is dirty, wash it in milk. Do not scrub it or remove any attached tissue. Then try to replace it in the socket if possible.

If you can’t replace it in the socket, bring it in a cup of milk to the dentist.

You must see a dentist within half an hour of losing a tooth to have the best chance of saving it.

Any surgical or invasive procedure carries risks. Before proceeding, you should seek a second opinion from an appropriately qualified health practitioner.
